Winter Dessert Recipe 1: Candy Bar Hot Chocolate (Featuring Dove Chocolate)

Sweet Treat Recipes To Warm You Up | Winter Dessert Recipes (1)
Silky-smooth Dove Chocolate is made with high-quality cocoa, so you can feel better about using it to celebrate yourself and your loved ones. While Dove’s chocolate candy treats are great on their own to share with family, friends, and at the office, incorporating them into this decadent hot chocolate will really create what Dove calls “a better moment to make the world smile.”

Prep time for this recipe is about 5 minutes.

Cook time is about 3 minutes.

Makes a single serving.

For this hot chocolate recipe, you will need:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 5-7 pieces of Dove milk chocolate
  • 1/8 -1/4 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla creamer
  • dash of salt, optional
  • cool whip, whipped cream, or marshmallows, optional

Instructions:
First, in a small pot, place the Dove Chocolate pieces and add the milk, stirring slowly over medium-low heat until the chocolate candy has melted completely and well-blended. Reduce heat to a low setting. Add in the vanilla, creamer, and salt. Remove from heat. Check to see if adding more milk would make the hot chocolate better for your personal taste. Finally, pour the chocolate mixture into your favorite festive holiday mug and garnish with a whipped topping or marshmallows as desired!

Winter Dessert Recipe 2: Chocolate Chunk Cookies (Featuring M&M’s Candies)

Sweet Treat Recipes To Warm You Up | Winter Dessert Recipes (2)
M&Ms are a classic candy, loved around the world since 1941 — and making holidays more merry and colorful for just as long. Use the different colors of the chocolate candies to make a scrumptious batch of gooey M&M’s chocolate cookie goodness at any time of the year… but if you’re like us, you’ll be picking out the red and green ones for this special holiday recipe.

Prep time for this recipe is about 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Cook time is about 12 minutes.

Makes about 28 cookies.

For this cookie recipe, you will need:

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups M&M’s & broken Dove Chocolate pieces, divided

Instructions:

Pre-heat your oven to 350°F. While you wait for the oven to arrive at temperature, line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl, then set the dry mixture aside. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer outfitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and both sugars for 1-2 minutes, until light and fluffy. To this, add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined and scraping the sides of the bowl as needed. On low speed, add in the dry flour mixture and mix until just combined.

Now that you have a basic cookie dough, gently stir in your M&M’s and any other chocolate chips, chunks, or candy bar pieces. Remember that you can also save some to press onto the top of the cookies just before baking.

Scoop balls of dough (consider using a small ice cream or dough scooper to make uniform-sized cookies) and place these portions on an ungreased cookie sheet, dropping each about 2 inches apart to leave room for spreading. As mentioned earlier, this is the time to use any remaining M&M’s atop each mound of dough to make them extra chocolatey and festive!

Bake for 8-10 minutes for smaller dough balls and 9-11 minutes for larger ones. To create softer cookies, bake until the edges are set and browning, but the center is still slightly underdone. For crispier cookies, continue baking until the entire cookie is browned, another minute or two. Remove the baking sheets from the oven; place them on wire racks, and allow the cookies to cool for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep in mind that cookies will firm as they cool.

Now settle in to sip and eat your sweet treats!
